This 5/8" wide (16mm) mortising chisel features an extra-thick blade with flat ground sides that help it register precisely to the mortise sides, ensuring accurate guidance while chopping out joints. The blade is traditionally hot forged from fine carbon steel, providing durability and strength to withstand heavy blows. A leather shock washer is fitted between the tang and the handle to reduce vibrations, enhancing comfort during use. The tough ash handle measures just over 5-1/2" long and is reinforced with steel hoops at both the top and bottom for added durability. The overall length of the chisel is approximately 11-3/4".
